Bruce Jenkins grew up in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.  He earned an Associates Degree in Photo Science from the Art Institute of Atlanta and a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education from Kennesaw State University.  He has been a Cobb County resident for 27 years.  He worked as a professional photographer for 26 years, doing weddings, catalogs and commercial work and has been an art and photography teacher in the Cobb County Schools. 

Bruce has been active in community service for many years.  In 1993, he began work with the Historic Preservation Commission and helped to establish new building guidelines and to create design standards for the commission.  He served on the Recreation Board for Cherokee County and established guidelines for team creation and selection, and has participated in work programs with Cobb, Bartow, and Cherokee County Boards of Education. 

In 2005, Bruce was elected to the City Council of Kennesaw and is serving in his second term.  He served as the Cobb Municipal Association president in 2010 an 2011.  He is the Council liaison to the Kennesaw Development Authority, Planning Commission and Cemetery Preservation Commission. 

Bruce’s wife Julie teaches at McClure Middle School; he has a 16 year old son, Jonathan.
