The City of Kennesaw Finance Department is responsible for billing, collecting and disbursing city property taxes.
Taxable property includes not only real estate, but also personal property; boats, airplanes and business assets.
Cobb County has the responsibility for collecting the city taxes on motor vehicles, timber and mobile homes – the City of Kennesaw does not directly collect these.
Tax bills are billed or levied in the fall of each tax year for the period of January 1 through December 31 of that year.
Taxes are generated on property values that are determined by the Cobb County Tax Assessor’s Office.
Exemptions are available to help reduce the amount of annual property taxes after certain eligibility requirements are met.

The City offers a tax exemption to residents age 65 or over on annual City Property Taxes. Click here for an application. You must provide a photocopy of identification such as a Georgia driver's license to qualify. Apply by April1 to receive the exemption on your 2010 bill.
Please note this important information about the Tax Credit for Homestead Properties!
The Tax Relief Grant enacted by the General Assembly of Georgia which has awarded a tax credit to homeowners in the past was not funded in the 2009 budget. The elimination of this credit affects the entire state of Georgia - it is not a Kennesaw decision.
The result is that your 2009 City tax bill will increase by $64. If your taxes are paid from an escrow account through your mortgage lender, please notify them so the escrow payment can be adjusted accordingly.
If you have additional questions, please contact the City property tax administrator.
