THE DEPARTMENT IS ACTIVELY RECRUITING CORRECTIONS AND POLICE OFFICERS. PHYSICAL AGILITY TESTS IS SCHEDULED TO BE CONDUCTED AT THE BEN ROBERTSON COMMUNITY CENTER, 2753 WATTS DR. TESTING IS AT 8 AM ON THE FOLLOWING DATES:  October 7 and 21; November 4 and 18; December 2
PHYSICAL AGILITY TESTS IS SCHEDULED TO BE CONDUCTED AT THE BEN ROBERTSON COMMUNITY CENTER AT 7 AM ON THE FOLLOWING DATES: June 3 and 17; July 1 and 15; August 5 and 19; September 2 and 16

APPLICATIONS WILL BE PROVIDED UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST.

The first step in the hiring process is successful completion of the physical agility test. Applications will be provided upon successful completion of the physical agility testing. No appointment for testing is necessary. Please dress in appropriate attire for physical exercise and bring a photo ID. All physical agility testing is conducted at the Ben Robertson Community Center, 2753 Watts Drive. The test consists of 29 sit-ups and 21 push-ups in one minute; sit and reach 17 inches; vertical jump 17 inches; 300 meter run in 64 seconds; and an agility test in 19 seconds.

All Police Applicants are required to complete the following:

  • Physical Agility Test (complete before applying)
  • Ga. POST Academy Entrance Exam (Ga. POST Certified Officers are Exempt)
  • Background Investigation
  • Psychological Exam/Interview
  • Polygraph Examination
  • Drug Screen
  • Hiring Board Interview

Police

How do I obtain a copy of a police or accident report?

Come to the Records Unit anytime Monday through Friday from 7 am until 5 pm. Call 770-429-4532 for additional information.

How do I arrange for fingerprinting?

Fingerprinting is done Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM and Tuesday from 9 AM to noon. Check in at the Police Lobby. A Staff Officer will be notified and escort the applicant to the print room and the back to the lobby.

Does the Police Department offer GCIC background checks and alcohol pouring permits?

Yes.  You must have a Georgia photo ID and work permit if not a US citizen. In addtion, you must have no felony convictions within the last 5 years and no current alcohol/drug probation. Omitting any arrests regardless of disposition will disqualify you for 6 months. Two or more alcohol/drug convictions within the last five years will result in denial.
