Kennesaw’s Smith-Gilbert Gardens has received a $4,600 IMPACT grant from the Cobb Community Foundation to support adding school tours and take-home materials to complement the Garden with Wings Butterfly House this year. The Butterfly House opens July 25 and with this grant, the exhibit dates will be extended to September 16, weather permitting.
“Through our 1500 square foot butterfly house plus adjacent pollinator garden, we will introduce visitors of all ages to pollinators,” according to Gardens Executive Director Ann Parsons. “We look forward to offering ideas to support pollinators at home and connecting people with nature and science in an engaging way.”
The Cobb Community Impact Grant is a partnership between Cobb County Government and Cobb Community Foundation that supports community nonprofit organizations with their missions that create new programs to improve the quality of life in Cobb County. This year, the Cobb Community Impact Grant Committee received 69 applications presenting new or expanded existing programs; 31 grants were awarded.
