Qualified Candidates – November 4, 2025

The City of Kennesaw has authorized the Cobb County Board of Elections and Registration to conduct the Kennesaw City General Election to be held on November 4, 2025, for City Council Posts 3, 4 and 5.
The mayor and city councilmembers are elected at-large. City councilmembers shall be elected to one of the following posts: Post 1, Post 2, Post 3, Post 4 or Post 5. None of the posts shall be tied to any geographical boundaries of or within the city.
The candidate for mayor and for each post that receives a plurality of the votes cast shall be declared elected for the position for which he or she qualified.
Except as otherwise provided by law, the terms of office for mayor and city council shall begin on the first regularly scheduled council meeting in January following their respective elections and shall continue for four years, or until their successors are elected and qualified.
The Cobb County Board of Elections and Registration will conduct the qualifying for the Kennesaw City General Election.
RESOLUTION 2025-01 set the qualifying fees for City Council Posts 3, 4, and 5 at $360, respectively.
RESOLUTION 2025-23 set the qualifying dates as follows:
Monday, August 18, Tuesday, August 19 and Wednesday, August 20, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (closed for lunch from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM) in the Kennesaw City Hall Training Room located at 2529 J.O. Stephenson Avenue, Kennesaw, GA 30144.
Sec. 2.02. – Qualification for mayor and councilmembers.
To be eligible for the office of elected or appointed mayor or councilmember a person must be at least 21 years of age and must meet the requirements of a qualified voter of the city as described by state law, and must be a bona fide resident of the City of Kennesaw for one year prior to election day, subject to all applicable state and federal laws. No person shall be qualified to hold the office of mayor or councilmember who shall have been convicted of a felony unless such person has received a full pardon and has had all rights of citizenship restored.
