KENNESAW, Ga. (April 30, 2025) — The City of Kennesaw’s free Outdoor Movie Series continues Saturday, May 17, at Swift-Cantrell Park with a showing of The Parent Trap (PG), beginning at 8:15 p.m. on a giant inflatable screen. Swift-Cantrell Park is located at 3140 Old 41 Highway.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or low-backed chairs for comfort. To ensure clear views for all, high-backed chairs, umbrellas, tents, pop-up canopies and similar items are not permitted. Food vendors and family-friendly activities will begin at 6 p.m.

A limited number of VIP tents are available to rent for $50. Each VIP rental includes a 10-by-10-foot tent installed by Parks & Recreation staff, a 6-foot table and six chairs. Tents will be placed toward the rear of the viewing area to avoid obstructing others’ views. VIP renters may check in beginning at 5 p.m., and tents will remain up through the end of the movie. Before the movie, guests can enjoy free games in front of the screen, including hula-hoop contests, tug-of-war, relay races and sack races, with chances to win fun prizes.

The 2025 Outdoor Movie Series is presented by Cobb EMC and Wellstar Health System.

Backyard Campout Returns May 17

In conjunction with the movie night, the Backyard Campout, presented by REI Co-op, also returns to Swift-Cantrell Park on Saturday, May 17. Campers will enjoy an evening under the stars with backyard games, field activities hosted by REI Co-op and entertainment including stargazing and s’mores.

The registration fee is $25 per campsite for participants who bring their own tent, or $50 for a pre-set campsite prepared by REI Co-op. All campsites are 10-by-10 feet and include dinner and breakfast. Space is limited, and advance registration is required at https://secure.rec1.com/GA/kennesaw-ga/catalog.
