KENNESAW, Ga. (August 17, 2026) — The City of Kennesaw invites residents, families, neighborhoods, nonprofit, civic and faith-based organizations, local businesses, schools, sports teams and athletic clubs to participate in the seventh annual Scarecrows on Main display.
Participants are invited to design and create a unique scarecrow to be displayed along Main Street from September through early November. The annual community display brings creativity and seasonal fun to downtown Kennesaw and offers participants an opportunity to showcase their organization, business or personality.
A $25 application fee is required for each scarecrow and supports the Kennesaw Downtown Development Authority’s efforts to promote downtown Kennesaw through beautification projects and events. Participants will receive an assigned display location from the City of Kennesaw following the application deadline.
Special Registration Opportunity
Participants can register for both Scarecrows on Main and the Holiday Extravaganza at a discounted combined rate of $40. Individual registration for each event is $25. The special combined rate is available only during the Scarecrows on Main registration period.

Important Dates

Scarecrow Requirements
Each scarecrow must fit within an assigned 4-foot-by-4-foot space. Because locations may have limited height and depth due to sidewalks, trees and driver visibility, participants should design their displays with their assigned location in mind.
Scarecrows must be freestanding and supported by a stable, weighted base. Bases may be secured with sandbags, bricks, weights or similar materials. Scarecrows may not be attached to sign poles, light poles, utility poles or other existing structures, and stakes may not be placed in the ground.
All displays must be able to withstand outdoor weather conditions. Participants are responsible for maintaining their scarecrows throughout the display period. The City reserves the right to remove and dispose of displays that become damaged, fall down, become an obstruction to pedestrian or street traffic or otherwise become unsafe or unsightly.
Additional guidelines include:
- Waterproof paint must be used if paint is incorporated into the display.
- Real pumpkins are not permitted. Artificial pumpkins may be used.
- Any signage must be physically attached to the scarecrow and may not exceed 18 inches by 24 inches. Signs may be attached to a prop that is part of the scarecrow display but may not be independently staked into the ground.
- Displays must be family-friendly and may not contain offensive or distasteful material. Displays deemed inappropriate by the City must be removed immediately, and participants may not be permitted to participate in future displays.
- The City of Kennesaw is not responsible for decorations or other items that are lost, damaged or removed while on display.
- All scarecrows must be removed by the end of the day on Nov. 4, 2026. Items left after the removal deadline will be removed and disposed of, and participants may not be permitted to participate in future displays.
Completion of registration acknowledges agreement to all Scarecrows on Main rules and guidelines.
