Approval of an ORDINANCE NO. 2018-07, 2018 to establish and create a special street light district in the City of Kennesaw and to provide for the collection of a service fee to cover the cost to provide and maintain the service of the provision of street lights Citywide, to establish standards for the construction of street lights, to articulate exempted parcels, to establish a process for temporary suspension from collection of the fee, to establish a right of appeal, to establish procedures to be followed by developers in all new subdivisions, and to repeal inconsistent and duplicative provisions and ordinances. Approved unanimously, 4-0. Motion carried.
Approval of ORDINANCE NO. 2018-08, 2018 of the Official Code of the City of Kennesaw, Georgia to be known as the “Utility Accommodation Ordinance,” in order to administer and regulate the public right-of-way in the public interest, and to provide for the issuance and regulation of Utility Permits and to repeal conflicting ordinances. Approved unanimously, 4-0. Motion carried.
Consent Agenda, approved unanimously, 4-0. Motion carried.
Combination plat submitted by Powell Place Holdings, LLC for properties identified as 2410 & 2420 Powell Place. Combined properties totaling .882+/- acres as proposed and is located in the Highway General Business District (HGB). Applicant is seeking approval to combine the properties for future commercial development.
Approval of street closings for 2018 Big Shanty Festival. Beginning Friday, April 20 at 6:00 p.m. until Sunday, April 22 at 8:00 pm: J.O. Stephenson Avenue from Main Street to Dallas Street; Cherokee Street from Main Street to Shirley Drive/Big Shanty Drive; Watts Drive from Dallas Street to Main Street. Beginning Saturday, April 21 at 6:00 am until Sunday, April 22 at 8:00 pm: Main Street from Summer Street to Lewis Street. After discussion with the Events Committee, JRM Management agreed to leave Lewis Street open to improve access to downtown businesses. They will secure the Main Street closure at Lewis with heavier barricades to ensure festival safety. In addition, one lane of Watts Drive will have a passive barricade staffed by an off-duty police officer so Revival on Main residents can access their apartments. Off-duty police officer is paid by Kennesaw Business Association (KBA) and parking/access passes are being distributed to Revival on Main by KBA. Parade Route road closure: For the Parade, a rolling closure beginning Saturday, April 22 at 9:00 am until parade conclusion (approximately 10:30 am) Park Drive from Adams Park to Main St.; Main St. from Park Drive to Lewis St.
