The Economic Development Department serves the city by encouraging economic growth through attracting and retaining business and industry, promoting small business development, supporting commercial revitalization and encouraging tourism. Economic growth improves our quality of life by maintaining and improving the tax base and increasing the number and variety of job opportunities available to local residents.

The department focuses on expanding business and assisting new commercial and industrial enterprises to locate in the city. We aim to create an environment responsive to the concerns of residents and the development community and we do our best to invite and encourage investments from outside.

Plans and conceptual drawings of selected projects can be found in the Document Center under the Economic Development tab.

Projects & Events

Seasonal activities give residents and visitors plenty of reasons to spend time in Kennesaw. Two initiatives hosted by the Downtown Development Authority offer shopping, dining, and entertainment alternatives that celebrate the warm weather. On Mondays from April 4  through August 1, local growers, bakers, and crafters will showcase their wares from 3:30-7:30 pm downtown at the Kennesaw Farmers Market, located in the parking lot of Depot Park.  Then, join us for the First Friday Concert Series to hear the area’s best local musicians! First Friday is hosted in partnership with the Kennesaw Downtown Merchant’s Association and held at the Main Street Plaza near the pedestrian underpass starting at 6:00 pm on the first Friday of each month, May – October.
