The Southern Museum hosts Civil War history day on June 5 from 9:30 AM to 5 PM. A contingent of living historians will be camped on the museum’s front lawn. Dress in period-appropriate uniforms, the historians will have a variety of items, from the battlefield and the home front, for visitors to handle as they learn more about the war. Museum educators will lead tours of the museum at the top of every hour. Topics include the importance of railroads on both sides, the African American experience, and the Great Locomotive Chase. A historic firing demonstration will take place at the bottom of every hour. Special videos will be played in the museum theater throughout the day. All activities are included with paid museum admission. ins.
