Homeschool Workshop Series: Patterns to Parts

Do you know how locomotives were built? Stop by this workshop to explore a real locomotive factory, create a locomotive part through casting, and experiment with your own casting techniques! In this workshop, students will learn about the foundry casting process, will use wax to cast an object, and will discover how this process relates to locomotive construction.

Do you think you could send a message with only dots and dashes? Try using Morse code! Before cell phones and walkie-talkies, people used the telegraph to communicate over long distances. In this workshop, students will learn about the importance of the telegraph and will build their own.
