The Outdoor Movie Series is three movies hosted by Kennesaw Parks & Rec in May, June, and July in the Parks. The event is generally hosted at Swift-Cantrell, but one movie (in June) this year will be hosted at Depot Park. Movies are generally family-friendly with PG ratings, but occasionally there is a PG-13 movie. This year, we are showing DC Films’ Wonder Woman 1984 (PG-13) in May, Paramount Pictures’ School of Rock (PG-13) in June, and Universal Pictures’ Trolls World Tour (PG) in July. Movies are shown on a giant inflatable screen on a large field at the park after sundown. Large 10’x10’ family squares are painted on the field to ensure social distancing. Attendees are welcome to bring blankets, chairs, etc. for their own comfort. No high-backed chairs, umbrellas, tents, pop-up canopies, etc. that could block the view of the movie for others. Food vendors are available beginning at 6 PM for attendees to purchase food, or they can bring their own food with them to the park. Glass is not permitted in the parks.
This year we are also offering VIP seating and Party Tents at the movies. 50 VIP seats will be available at each movie. These are reserved and guaranteed for those that sign up. Chairs will provide front and center access to view the movie. They are $5/chair per movie (individual signups for each movie). 4 Party Tents will be available at the May and July movies at Swift-Cantrell Park. Tents will NOT be available at the June movie in Depot Park (VIP Chairs will still be available). The Party Tent rental includes a 10’x10’ tent installed by Parks & Rec, a 6’ table, and 6 chairs. Tent rentals also guarantee a family square reserved near the center of the screen. Tent rentals are $50.
