CLASS SCHEDULE

March 3rd– Insects Among Us

Let’s have fun learning all about creepy crawlies! Children will get to view SGG’s insect collection and identify the body parts that make insects unique. We’ll explore how beneficial insects help our garden and finish by making a bug motel to take home!

March 17th– Seed Mania

As spring approaches, pollen will fill the air to bring us more seeds! Dive into seed types and dispersal methods through activities and exercises. Spread wildflower seeds in your yard by making either seed paper or seed bombs!

April 7th– Wind chimes

One way to add beauty to your landscape is with garden décor. Make a personalized beaded wind chime using a terracotta pot to enjoy at home! Paint and decorate as we celebrate the first Wednesday Wonders of Art Blooms!

April 21st– Forever Flowers

Do you wish you could enjoy flowers all year long? We do too! Join us in making pressed flower bookmarks to preserve a little bit of spring forever.

May 5th– Layers Beneath Us

We want to display your work just like the SGG sculptures during Art Blooms! Our Koi fish are an integral part of the Garden’s beauty and we’re going to create a collection of koi sculptures using recycled materials! To feature your own koi design, come out and create a temporary piece that will be displayed in the Gardens throughout May!

May 19th– Pollinator Power

Let’s highlight the pollinators that make Smith-Gilbert Gardens possible! Children will imitate the hard work of bees in a pollination exercise and view flowers through the eyes of an insect with our pollinator viewers. Create your own bug antennae to wear as you venture through the Gardens!
