Trash/recycle pickup schedules will change as follows: there will be no trash/recycle pickup on Thursday, 11/22. All routes will move forward one day beginning 11/22 (Thursday routes on Friday, and so on).

Tree Lighting @ Depot Park

Winter is a season filled with exciting activities and time-honored traditions, including the City of Kennesaw’s tree lighting program. Join the Mayor and other City officials in downtown Kennesaw as they “flip the switch” to illuminate the City’s official Christmas tree. This FREE program will include music from local choral groups and ensembles, light refreshments and plenty of holiday cheer!

Santa Parade and Day with Santa @ Main Street Downtown

The City of Kennesaw will usher in the holiday season on Saturday, December 1 with a Main Street parade featuring marching bands, decorated floats, vintage cars, colorfully-costumed characters, and Santa Claus himself.

The parade begins at noon near the intersection of Park Drive and Main Street, proceeding south and east down Main Street.

The celebration continues at Depot Park, 2828 Cherokee Street, until 6 pm with A Day with Santa presented by WellStar Health Systems. Activities include a snow playground, inflatables and amusements, kid’s crafts, visits with Santa, stage entertainment, and a holiday market full of gift ideas and unique merchandise. Food vendors will be onsite.

Event organizers are seeking vendors, as well as accepting entries for the parade at www.adaywithsanta.com. Entries will be judged and prizes will be awarded in several categories. The best overall float will win a cash prize of $250. Participation is free.

Santa’s Workshop @ Southern Museum

The Southern Museum is assisting Santa this year with his toy production and hosting a special day for families. Using the Glover Machine Works exhibit, staff will transform the factory floor into Santa’s Workshop where children and families may meet and take pictures with Santa. The big guy himself, along with Mrs. Claus, arrive at 1 pm to begin with a story and holiday sing-along.

The Polar Express will be shown in the theater at 10 AM and 2 PM. Visitors will also get a chance to make their own wood ornament to take home and view two holiday themed train layouts. Guests are encouraged to wear their best Polar Express pajamas or holiday sweaters to the museum.
