Ethnobotany: A Cherokee Relationship

Speaker: Tony Harris, Georgia Trail of Tears Association
Ethnobotany is the examination of how people of a particular culture and region make use of native plants for food, shelter, medicine, clothing, hunting, and religious ceremonies. Tony Harris will share his expertise on the plants that were so significant to the life and culture of our native Cherokee people.

About the Speaker:

Tony Harris, a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, was born and raised in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He graduated from Northeastern State University, originally Cherokee University, located in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and had a long career with Johnson Wax before retiring in 2004. Tony is active with Cobb County Master Gardeners, Georgia Native Plant Society, and was a past president of the Georgia Trail of Tears Association.
