Join us at the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History on Saturday, March 8, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM for For the Common Good: Women and Philanthropy in the 19th Century. Presented by Jolee Johnson, Archivist at the Southern Museum, this program will provide an overview of women’s history in the 19th century, focusing on their philanthropy efforts. Topics will include women’s rights, abolition, and sanitation initiatives, as well as the traditions of charity and mutual aid in America. Discover how philanthropy empowered women to influence public policy and create lasting societal change.
