Effective November 1, sanitation rates will increase by 6%. The standard monthly service, which includes one trash can and one recycle cart, will increase from $32.50 to $34.50. Each additional trash can will cost $19.50 per month, and each additional recycle cart will be $6.00 per month. This increase will be reflected on the December bill. Customers who have paid in full for the year in advance will not be affected by the rate change until the end of their current service period, at which point the new rate will apply. Those enrolled in auto pay will need to update their payment amount prior to the December billing cycle to avoid any disruption or late fees. Please note, late fees will be assessed for payments received after the due date or for payments not made in full by the payment deadline.
Over the past four years, the City of Kennesaw has absorbed an increase of over 18% in sanitation service costs without passing those costs on to residents. This adjustment reflects the need to better align rates with actual service expenses.
Republic Services is the contracted vendor responsible for garbage, recycling, and yard waste collection for residential and select commercial areas. Payment options include mail and online; phone payments are available for an additional $5 fee.
For service-related requests or questions, please contact Sanitation at sanitation@kennesaw-ga.gov. This includes requests for trash cans, recycle bins or carts, reporting broken containers, or reporting missed collections of trash, lawn debris, or recycling.
