Collection Schedule

Trash Collection

Trash is collected once a week on designated collection days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The City provides 95-gallon trash containers to most residential locations.

Recycling Collection

Curbside recycling is provided by Republic Services every other week at no additional charge.

Yard Waste Collection

Yard trimmings and debris are collected on the same day as trash.

Place trash, recycling and yard waste at the curb by 7 a.m. on your collection day.

Holiday Collection Schedule

Trash collection is interrupted for the following six holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day

For Monday holidays, all collection routes for the remainder of the week will be picked up one day later.

For holidays that fall Tuesday through Friday, collections following the holiday will be delayed by one day for the remainder of that week. For example, if a holiday falls on Tuesday, Tuesday routes will be picked up Wednesday, Wednesday routes will be picked up Thursday and so on for the remainder of the week.

If one of these holidays falls on a weekend, there will be no change to the collection schedule.

Holiday collection reminders are also included on sanitation bills and in the City’s twice-monthly e-newsletter.

Recycling

Recycling helps conserve natural resources, reduce landfill waste and minimize waste disposal costs.

Important: Recyclable materials must be free of food and other debris. Contaminated items, including items soiled with oil or other waste, will not be collected.

Yard Waste

Yard trimmings and debris are collected on the same day as trash and must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m.

Accepted yard waste includes grass clippings, leaves, pine straw and small hedge trimmings.

Bags and Containers

  • Lawn refuse bags may not exceed 30 gallons
  • Plastic or metal cans must have tight-fitting lids
  • Containers may not exceed 32 gallons
  • Containers may not weigh more than 50 pounds
  • Limit of 15 bags or three containers per regular pickup

Branches, Limbs and Shrubbery

  • Must be cut into lengths of 4 feet or less
  • Individual pieces may not exceed 2 inches in diameter
  • Individual pieces may not weigh more than 50 pounds
  • Must be placed in a pile no larger than 10 feet long by 6 feet wide by 4 feet tall

If a tree company provides service, the company is required to remove debris from the property.

Start Sanitation Service

To start sanitation service with the City of Kennesaw, contact Utility Billing at 678-460-2850 or email sanitation@kennesaw-ga.gov.

All residential sanitation accounts must be placed in the property owner’s name, including homes that are rented or leased.

Under Section 74-29 of the City Code, private haulers are not permitted to provide sanitation service within the Kennesaw city limits. Fines will be assessed for violations of this ordinance.

Pay Your Sanitation Bill

When paying sanitation or stormwater bills by check, please include your payment slip with your check to help expedite processing.

Late charges will be assessed when payment is received after the due date.

Payments made by phone are subject to an additional $5 charge.

Bulk Waste

Bulk material collection is available for an additional fee. The price is based on the item, size, weight and collection time required.

Bulk materials may include, but are not limited to:

  • Household furniture
  • Mattresses
  • Large auto parts
  • Domestic appliances
  • Commercial appliances

Call Public Works at 770-421-8582 to schedule bulk waste pickup. Prepayment is required before pickup.

Please note that there will be no refund if someone removes or scavenges an item before Public Works arrives for the scheduled pickup.

The City will not collect dirt, rocks, cement or concrete.

Paint Can Disposal

To dispose of paint cans:

  1. Pour sand or cat litter into the can and mix it with the paint.
  2. Place the lid securely on the paint can.
  3. Place the can in a sealed trash bag.
  4. Place the bagged can in your trash container for pickup.

Why Recycle?

The City of Kennesaw collects more than 20,000 tons of garbage each year. The average household of three produces approximately 1.4 tons of garbage annually, and an estimated 84% of that waste can be recycled, including paper, cardboard, cans and plastic bottles.

Recycling, composting and other waste-reduction practices help conserve natural resources, preserve landfill space and minimize waste disposal costs.
