KENNESAW, Ga. (June 30, 2026) — The popular Railroad Rendezvous event will return to the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History on Saturday, July 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The family-friendly event celebrates railroads and transportation with a full day of activities and demonstrations. Guests can enjoy children’s flatcar rides, a model car display, railroad artifacts presented by the Military Railroad Society and a variety of interactive exhibits.
This year’s event features tractors on display by AgPro Marietta, blacksmith demonstrations from Big Bear’s Forge and Homestead, an interactive train layout by Atlantic Coast S Gaugers and a hands-on car engine station presented by The Savoy. The Cobb County Radio Control Modelers Club will also return, and families can visit the Railroad Worker’s Kids Area featuring hands-on activities hosted by the Atlanta Typewriter Club.
Railroad Rendezvous also offers the rare opportunity to step aboard the General locomotive, made famous during the Great Locomotive Chase of 1862, and tour the cab of the historic steam locomotive. Visitors can also explore the renovated Southern Railway Caboose X372 and experience what life was like for railroad crews during the golden age of rail travel.
The Board the General Experience and Board the Caboose Experience are $5 per person each or $7 for both experiences. Children 2 and younger are free. Proceeds benefit the Kennesaw Museum Foundation.
All other Railroad Rendezvous activities are included with regular museum admission. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for children.
