Special Election & Qualifying Dates Announced

2018 Special Election
The City Council approved Resolution No. 2018-05 calling for a special election to fulfill a vacancy on Council Post 2, elected at-large with a term ending December 31, 2019. The 3% qualifying fees for the special election is hereby set at $360. The City Council also approved Resolution No. 2018-06 setting the special election to occur May 22, 2018. Qualifying dates will be March 5 and 6, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. closed for lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. and March 7, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the City Hall Training Room. This is a non-partisan election and Post 2 is not tied to any geographic boundaries of or within the City.
Per City Charter: Sec. 2.02. – Qualification for mayor and councilmembers.
To be eligible for the office of elected or appointed mayor or councilmember a person must be at least 21 years of age and must meet the requirements of a qualified voter of the city as described by state law, and must be a bona fide resident of the City of Kennesaw for one year prior to election day, subject to all applicable state and federal laws. No person shall be qualified to hold the office of mayor or councilmember who shall have been convicted of a felony unless such person has received a full pardon and has had all rights of citizenship restored.
