City of Kennesaw Winter Storm Updates

January 25, 2026 – Due to anticipated weather impacts, the following changes are in effect for tomorrow, Monday, January 26, 2026:

  • City administrative offices, facilities, and parks will be closed.
  • The Mayor & Council Work Session scheduled for 6:30 PM has been canceled.
  • Republic Services will be closed. There will be no sanitation collection on Monday (1/26). All routes for this week will be delayed by one day (Monday routes collected Tuesday, Tuesday routes collected Wednesday, etc.).

January 23, 2026 — City of Kennesaw officials continue coordinating operations as forecasted winter weather is expected to impact the area this weekend.

Saturday, January 24

City facilities and parks will operate under modified hours, with all City facilities and parks closing at 6:00 PM. This includes Adams Park, the Recreation Center, Depot Park, and Swift-Cantrell Park.

  • The Book Swap at the Ben Robertson Community Center will continue as scheduled from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m.
  • Trains, Trains, Trains! at the Southern Museum will continue as scheduled on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • The Adams Park Recreation Center will be open for Open Gym from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Pickleball Open Play: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

Sunday, January 25

Due to forecasted winter weather and potential hazardous conditions, all City facilities and parks will be closed on Sunday.

  • As a result, Trains, Trains, Trains!, originally scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday, will not take place on Sunday.

Monday, January 26

  • Due to anticipated weather impacts, the Mayor and Council Work Session, scheduled for 6:30 PM, has been canceled.
  • Republic Services will be closed on Monday, January 26. There will be no sanitation collection on Monday. All routes will be delayed by one day (Monday routes collected Tuesday, Tuesday routes collected Wednesday, etc.).

Public Works crews have been preparing for the forecasted winter weather and will continue monitoring conditions throughout the weekend. Crews are ready to pre-treat bridges and priority roadways, clear storm drains, and respond to debris or hazardous conditions as needed. Operations will remain coordinated with public safety, with a focus on maintaining safe travel and emergency access as conditions evolve.

Weather conditions may change, and additional operational adjustments may be necessary. Updates will continue to be shared on City of Kennesaw channels as information becomes available.

Trains, Trains, Trains! – Event Update

January 23, 2026 — We’re excited to welcome guests back for Trains, Trains, Trains! this weekend and sincerely appreciate the continued enthusiasm and support for this annual event.

Due to forecasted winter weather across the Southeast, several visiting model train clubs have had to adjust their travel plans and will be unable to participate this year. These clubs typically travel from surrounding states, including Alabama, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, and we fully support their decision.

As a result, this year’s event may look different than in past years, with fewer layouts and adjustments to the overall experience. Even so, the Southern Museum team and participating exhibitors are working diligently to present the strongest and most engaging event possible with the layouts and resources available.

Additionally, due to anticipated hazardous conditions, the Southern Museum and all City facilities will be closed on Sunday, and Trains, Trains, Trains! will not take place that day.

Ticket Information

  • Tickets purchased for Sunday may be used to attend the event on Saturday
  • If you are unable to attend on Saturday, Sunday tickets may be used any time through Saturday, April 25
  • Guests who purchased tickets online will receive additional details directly from the Southern Museum as needed

We know this event is a favorite for our loyal attendees and train enthusiasts. While circumstances this weekend are beyond our control, every effort is being made to deliver a positive, enjoyable experience for those who are able to attend. We truly appreciate your understanding and flexibility as weather conditions continue to impact travel and operations.

City of Kennesaw Monitors and Prepares for Upcoming Winter Storm

January 22, 2026 — City of Kennesaw staff continue to monitor potential winter weather and coordinate City operations. Public Works will begin treating City roads Saturday morning and will continue monitoring conditions.

Please note that some programs, classes, or facility rentals may be impacted by City services or independently by instructors or organizers. Participants are encouraged to contact their instructor, organizer, or rental contact directly for specific program information.

Weather conditions may change, and the City may adjust operations as needed. Updates will be shared on City of Kennesaw channels as information becomes available.

January 21, 2026 — City of Kennesaw staff met this morning to begin preparations ahead of potential winter weather this weekend. Public Works has plans in place for City roads and facilities. An additional coordination meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, and an update will be posted tomorrow afternoon if any changes are necessary.

Residents are encouraged to prepare early, and stay weather-aware.
