Board and Commission Appointments

The Mayor and City Council appoint members to the City’s boards, commissions, committees, and authorities.

If you are interested in serving, complete the Volunteer Application form to be considered for current or future openings.

Boards and Commissions

Cemetery Preservation Commission (CPC)

Purpose
Provides oversight of the operation and maintenance of the City Cemetery and makes recommendations.

Meeting Information

  • Second Thursday of each month at 4:00 p.m.
  • City Hall Training Room (unless otherwise noted)
  • Members serve staggered four-year terms

Ethics Board

Purpose
Upholds ethical standards for the City of Kennesaw and promotes accountability in the conduct of elected officials.

Meeting Information

  • Meets in April and October at 6:00 p.m.
  • Ben Robertson Community Center (unless otherwise noted)
  • Members serve staggered two-year terms

Historic Preservation Commission (HPC)

Purpose
Promotes preservation efforts, educates the public, monitors historic properties, and reviews proposed exterior changes within the historic district.

Meeting Information

  • Third Friday of each month at 8:00 a.m.
  • City Hall Council Chambers (unless otherwise noted)
  • Members serve staggered two-year terms

Kennesaw Development Authority (KDA)

Purpose
Supports economic development by promoting business growth, expanding the tax base, and encouraging investment. The Authority may acquire property, issue bonds, and provide development incentives in accordance with Georgia law.

Meeting Information

  • Third Wednesday of January, April, July, and October at 6:00 p.m.
  • City Hall Council Chambers (unless otherwise noted)
  • Members serve staggered four-year terms

Kennesaw Downtown Development Authority (KDDA)

Purpose
Focuses on revitalization and redevelopment of the downtown district, supporting business development and economic growth.

Meeting Information

  • Second Friday of each month at 7:30 a.m.
  • City Hall Council Chambers (unless otherwise noted)
  • Members serve staggered four-year terms

License Review Board (LRB)

Purpose
Hears cases involving alcohol and massage license violations and appeals of denied licenses and permits.

  • Meets as needed

Planning Commission

Purpose
Advises the City Council on zoning, land use, and development matters.

Meeting Information

  • First Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
  • City Hall Council Chambers (unless otherwise noted)
  • Members serve staggered three-year terms

Kennesaw Sister Cities Commission

Purpose
Promotes cultural, educational, and economic exchange between Kennesaw and its Sister Cities.

Meeting Information

  • Second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
  • City Hall Conference Room (unless otherwise noted)
  • Members serve staggered two-year terms
